you need hard hat and steel toes if there are heavy objects above you.
If there's nothing above - you're at the top of the world on the top floor of the tallest building in the city with no roof - you do you still need them???

"Planks"? They look more like hunks of firewood. Not sure I'd want them in my multimillion dollar skyscraper.

Not only are the shoes not steel-toe, but they look like they're about to come off the guy. Backless shoes maybe?

May God bless him, though. He's employed, evidently healthy, and able to provide for his family.
