the woodworking show hits houston this weekend

What do I need to stock up on?

What do you guys wait for the show to come to town before buying...

Maybe crazy Kathy Hummel from woodpeckers will be there again.

If your only tool is a hammer, you tend to treat all problems as if they were nails.

I've been disappointed in the last couple of shows I've been to... Much less presence by the big manufacturers (not to mention less attractive "deals"), and the rest of the floor seemingly dominated by Peachtree WW. I still look forward to the display by Lee Valley/Veritas, and the hands-on demos of all those wonderfully tuned hand planes...

Well, went to the show with one of my friends.
KAthy at the Woodpeckers booth was nice, she replaced a part on my coping sled that was a little too tight. I old her i couldn't buy any new stuff this year because my daughter was getting married next week.

I got a RA1172 dust chute for my Bosch router, $10 at Circle Saw (local dealer) that costs over $30 on amazon and ebay.

picked up a few hose clamps, some glue (quart of TB III for $11.99) and some cheap router bits.

There were quite a good amount of attendees, the number of exhibitors was down from years past - Peachtree had the dominant booth with several rows now that competitor TWC (TWS?) has been gone a couple of years.

I guess the prices are still more than compeititve with local stores and Amazon, but you should know what to pay beforehand just in case.

I looked for a good endgrain forstner bit but the guys at Mad Dog Tools only had sets of their Rover bits starting at $140 per box (less than their internet site) - no single bits for sale.
