    Blade Guard gloat

So I was doing my nightly CL browsing and see an Excalibur blade guard for sale. Perfect timing since I was seriously considering an overarm type guard. I email the guy and verify the price because I think it has to be missing a zero. He emails back in that the price is correct and at lunch today I go pick it up.

Oh yah the price.... $15 !!!!

And no the SawStop wasn't included.

if they only cost $15, then you would thionk Saw Stop would have included then as standard equipment. You know if they don't include every possible safety feature regardless of cost, then they might be liable for accidents...

They just got the sawstop and apparently they're switching over to the sawstop guard and just wanted to get rid of this.

For those of you who use such a guard, what type of splitter do you use? I was thinking of the microjig splitters. Will the absence of the pawls be significant in terms of safety?

I use the microjig (magic), and have NEVER missed the pawls And pawls would not have saved my thumb

(Click on the pick - you can just see the splitter)

Sure, the removal of the pawls would eliminate the only part of my saw (okay, my previous saw) that ever made me bleed! I removed them from my BT3.1k (before buying a shark) and never missed them.
