dw light from 4 piece kit

I just opened the Dewalt 4 tool kit for the first time. One of the 'tools' is a light, which has a price of about $25, and has gone as cheaply as $9 when on sale at Amazon.

I actually had a use for it yesterday, so I charged the battery and started it up. It's a very quiet 'tool':-)
I was surprised that it only lasted for 3 hours. I would have thought with a big old battery like that and powering only a light, that it would have lasted for days! There are no specs on the tool plate, so I don't really know what it draws, but really, 3 hours??! Makes me wonder how it's going to do with real tools.
You don't need a parachute to skydive, you only need a parachute to skydive twice.

That's a good question. But, 3 hours seems like a long time. I'm thinking that if I start with a fresh battery in my PC 14.4V, and locked it on high, it probably wouldn't make it 3 hrs.

In 115V can get 5W bulbs to 200W bulbs, if drawing energy from a battery source the dim, small one would last 40 times longer than the larger.

Operating time per charge Depends on the size (capacity) of the battery and the wattage of the bulb... And the capacity is always greatest when new.

I've got a DW light that came with my 18v drill & impact driver combo (NiCad). I haven't tried finding out the battery life on the light. It does put out a pretty good amount though. On occaision, I'll pop in a battery pack from my old B&D 9.6v drill if my other 2 packs are in use or charging. The light is fairly dim with the smaller pack.

The light in my Ryobi 1+ 18v kit is about the same with the standard battery and maybe an additional hour with the Li-on pack. The light in the Tek4 4v kit lasts maybe 1.5 hours, but the light is the brightest I have ever had - including a rechargeable duty Streamlight.
