I was happy Avatar did not receive the Best Picture - it's a watchable movie, ground breaking in technology and special effects, but old-wine-new-bottle as far as a Movie goes.
I was struck by the documentaries - 2 out the 5 (The Cove, and Burma, VJ) have as much story in the 'making of' as in the content itself. These were made with a lot of covert plotting, hidden cameras and all sorts of near wartime espionage atmosphere. I wish I could see them in the theaters.
I was not really impressed by the hosts (Martin/Baldwin) - could see the jokes' punchlines coming a long way, and nothing really humorous. After all these years maybe you can't have any surprises, but I'm not sure two are better than one.
