Did You Ever Work At A Fast Food Restaurant?

I did, briefly in college. It was actually an OK place to work. Had a decent manager and the schedules were flexible enough to work around my schedule at school. He also said that if I wanted to, I could get into the management trainee program and have a job as an assistant manager when I graduated. One of the guys I worked with back then did that. He is now a general manager of 4 restaurants for a franchisee and the franchisee is thinking of selling him the franchise.

No, can't say I ever did. In college I sold Kirby vacuums...money was pretty good.

I worked as a cook in a fast food place while in college. I later managed a fast food chain place for a couple of years and even owned my own place for about 10 years. Managers have more headaches than workers and owners even more but I was a lot younger then.

At a Burger King in high school. Nothing teaches the value of going to university more than closing on a Friday (work to 3am) only to open on a Saturday (starting at 4am) and then doing the same thing for Saturday and Sunday.

I have never worked in the front part of the food chain. OTOH, after high school I operated a ride called the Scrambler at a local amusement park and worked as a hospital orderly.

In the former job one of my tasks was to wash out the cars that customers had thrown up in. In my latter job one of my tasks was to give enemas to patients who had procedures scheduled.

You might say I got into health care starting at the bottom...

Through High School and into College I worked for Taco Bell and KFC. I still won't eat at KFC after that... ICK.

Yep, McDonald's was the first of the 4 jobs I have ever had in High school. I spent 3 years there with measly pay. At the time, (mid 80s') I was grateful for a job and a check. I didn't realize until later that is was pretty low pay for the effort.

I left there and worked at a really high end restaurant during college. I made at least triple what I was making cooking & cleaning at McDonald's as just a busboy at the other place. Picked up a job with a surveyor for a couple years after college and then finally with an architect where I've been ever since.

In HS I worked at a grocery store bagging groceries and in produce in the days someone ask for a pound of green beans you hand pulled them out of an open bin.. put em in a brown paper sack and weighed them. then marked the price with a grease pencil.

Simply put.. there were no fast foods places then to work at as it was not a fast food world I grew up in as a kid.. ha.. ha...

No, I've managed to miss being employed in the fast-food industry -- so far, anyway. My summer/after-school job during high school was working a Chinese restaurant in Anchorage, as sort of a junior sous chef and dishwasher. I spent about two years there. But to the best of my recollection I never so much as filled at an application at any of the fast-food joints.

I worked in Krystal restaurants throughout HS and my first year of college. At that time, they had separate units in back for fried chicken, and that was my station in life for 4 years...

Never worked fast food but came pretty close. Worked at a movie theater during college breaks, and worked in a resturant kitchen in college.

The movie theater thing was great. Made decent money and had plenty of perks. I got to go see any movie I wanted for free with whomever wanted to go with me. I got free popcorn and free pop (soda), providing I didn't use the "expensive" regular cups that you would get if you bought one yourself. For whatever reason they were Nazis about that.

The resturant job was also exciting. I started off doing kitchen prep work (Cutting Veggies). After a week the made me the Expeditor for the kitchen. This was the important job to have. I was basically in charge of making sure you got what you ordered in a timely mannor. The servers would input the order and a ticket would print in the kitch with that order for that table. I would call out orders to the chefs, plate the food, add garnishes and load the trays. Pretty challenging work. There would be times when I would have 40 tickets printed and trays and food everywhere. The best part, however, befriending the hot servers. Like I said jobs have benefits.

                        Herfy's

I slung burgers at a Herfy's Hamburger joint for awhile. Made the decision to learn to program a WHOLE lot easier.

I worked at McDonald's for 3 summers starting between 10th and 11th grade.
I already had a good work ethic but that job really bolstered it. Our managers'
motto was, "Don't let me catch you not being busy." The managers were OK.

When I started, I was too young to be a cook so I always worked the register
and took turns making fries or mopping. I always wanted to work the
grill, though. My first week the sewer backed up in the basement and I got
stuck doing cleanup. I never worked a long enough stretch to get a
performance review for a raise. Fortunately, every year, our state raised the
minimum wage so it was like a raise. I enjoyed it. Free food was a bonus.

I usually rode my bike there while wearing my uniform. I'd lock it up by the
big stinky trash bin. Only got hit with a squirt gun once--luckily on the way
                            home.
