    It's not on the www

At least I can't find it. Trying to buy a song, but it's not there. The song is from the late 1950s, and it is "Stormy, Oh Stormy". The lyrics begin like this:

Stormy, Oh Stormy. When you are through taking love where you please
Then come to me like a soft summer breeze.
    My arms enfold you
    But I can't hold you
    Stormy

Does anybody recognize it? Probably not.

      Stormy, Oh Stormy

The lyrics 'stormy......, oh stormy.....' are very familiar to me from growing up. However, the lyrics you post don't match the song I'm thinking of - by Classics IV (the band's actual name). Here's a link to the Classics IV version.

      Good luck in your quest.

Ed, do you know who sings it? All the songs I am finding about Stormy were either already linked to or covers of what was linked to.

This is one of my favorite orphan song from years ago--lost track of it and the artists for 30 years, then found it again thanks to the internet:

I have found that what I think is the title is sometimes not exactly right. Pick a line, or a part of a line, that you are absolutely sure is in the song. This must be perfect.
Enter that in Google and see if you get any info. Good luck!

I'm sure the lyrics are correct, with the exception of one word. When I said "But I can't hold you", it might have actually been "But they can't hold you". I don't remember the artist, and Google didn't help. Thanks for trying to help, everyone.

Ok, here's the back door approach. submit that song to the licensing authorities (ascap?) for publication. They will research it and tell you who you are plagiarizing:-) Voila!

                              Stormy

Stormy was a 1956 recording by The Prophets on the ATCO label (#6078). The lyrics you have posted are correct. I am not aware of any copies of this song (or any other song by this group) ever being released on a CD.
