When Is A Motorcycle Not A Motorcycle??

    When it is an Ecomobile:

Neat concept. They don't say but I wonder what the MPG on one would be. I could see it working as my almost-daily driver.

Looks like about 55MPG. The thing weighs about 1400 pounds. Not as good as a regular bike, but I do like the ide of being out of the weather and having a little bit of structure around me.

Looks neat. Still no good for snow/ice, though. So for our part of the country, they still couldn't get year-round use. Although in parts of the country where you can ride a bike year-round, I can see the advantage.

I remember these things coming out abotu 10 years ago. I guess they're still catching on, or maybe that was a prototype I saw back then. Cool idea.

So do the out rigger wheels work automatically or manually?

I believe the outrigger wheels are automatic. I always wondered if they have a manual backup. I also wondered how this will be affected by helmet laws, just as the 3 wheeled, electric motorcycle (aero?) is. (in SOME states, enclosed bikes no helmets are needed)

I think that was from an EARLY Top Gear.

Add this to the list of vehicles that are too small for me to get closed up in. Cars won't 'see' them and I don't see the survival rate in a highway speed accident being very good.

I don't know... Sure it's not going to be anywhere near as good as a full sized car, but it seems like a fair percentage of fatal accidents on a motorcycle could be walk-away or injury accidents on this thing. With a bit of structure around you and a seat belt to keep you from flopping like a rag-doll down the freeway you have to rely less on a lucky bounce/slide ...

Well, you'd probably get a lot less 'trouser burn', in an accident, and it does keep the bugs out of your teeth and it prevents you from living under bridges like a troll when it starts to pour.
On the other hand, IT'S $50,000!

No, it was in pounds. Currency rates vary, so it is more then that.

that's amazing. How many do you think they'll sell at that price?

Clever idea those training wheels, but they look like an accident waiting to happen in close urban traffic.
