Nope. You didn't suggest ANYTHING that "might" help. This kind of belief in nonsense, ignorance, old wives' tales, and most of the "medical" knowledge on the Internet, deeply offends me.

    And I fight it daily.

But your type beliefs survive, and spread, because people in general THINK they know everything about anything, have NO trust in folks that DO know, and discount truth while swallowing every piece of junk that circulates "because it sounds good" (even if, in reality it is garbage, but you don't know that).

What really amazes me is the America is FAR worse about this than other countries.

35 years ago the majority of folks in the USA weren't so ignorant. They did NOT give Tylenol for EVERYthing, knowing it was for fever and pain, NOT for diarrhea, vomiting, etc. Today "Tylenol" is a cure for EVERYthing.

    READ LABELS FOLKS!

Sorry folks. But this kind of ignorant BS just makes me sick.

It is this type of belief in BS that does far more harm than good. Not to mention the $$$$$ it wastes.

On the other hand, I find a lot of old, outdated "medicine" practiced every day by "docs" too. Many shoul not be practicing medicine. They do NOT keep up. do NOT practice by today's epert guidelines, etc.

How this came about I do not know. 35 years ago it really was different.

But there ARE good, reliable, internet medical sites out there.

Probably 1 for every 100 garbage BS sites. The good is far outnumbered by the absurd, potentially dangerous sites. Probably not just true in medicine, but a lot of other fields too.

Unfortunately, you takes your chances and pays your price. But too often that price can be harmful.

GERMS in your terms, are MICROscopic. They DO not get sucked into your ducts (unless, of course, you sneeze or cough right next to the solo intake duct that most homes have. And THAT would take some planning. ROFLOL.) Period. Do you even understand the aerodynamics of particles? Micron size vs. millimeter size? Etc etc etc????????

Do you know a sneeze blows germs out at 300 mph? And MOST settle on surfaces, where they WILL NOT be sucked into the air again and thus into your ducts?????

          No, I guess not...

let me know when you get a degree in microbiology, infectious disease, epidemiology, environment, particle physics and chemistry, etc etc etc.

            Personal attackts

"Now, let's compare credentials. I am a Board Certified Pediatrician, for 35 years. I was a Professor of Pediatrics at a top 5 medical school for 15 years. I read a lot of INFORMATIVE studies every year, continue to teach, and accumulate over 150 hours of Continuing Medical Education every year.

            And you?"

I feel that personal attacks are the domain of those who feel threatened some how.
Now credentials are nice and impressive, but sometimes the holders of the best of them can fault, so I don't bow in awe to them.

In many fields of science, often those that are good-Do, while the rest Teach.
this is sometimes the case in the field of medicine where the best are in private practice and the rest in clinics or other gov't institutions.

That is not however meant to slight all those that seek the comfort of a steady paycheck and insulation of Malpractice Lawsuits, that are all too often bogus and the Bane of Health Care Costs. I have several friends who are Physicians in the Veterans Administration, and hold them and their abilities in the highest regard

I don't claim to have the credentials of a gourmet chef, but that doesn't mean that I can't have a valid opinion on weather a meal is good or bad.

I have had experience of my share of medical opinions that were at odds with each other. I had to chose my own path based upon my layman's understanding and logic. Fortunately it was right and later time vindicated my choice.

So while credentials have are admirable, they are not the end all of all, and as time has shown, the best opinions of the most pompous, have in some cases proved to be wrong. While the disparagement of those that dared to disagree with the conventional wisdom is reminiscent to the Inquisitions and also been in time, vindicated.

Does "the Man-made Global Warming Farce bring anything to mind?

And that was the response I expected. The question was to let folks here know just how knowledgeable you are. And you didn't answer. As I expected.

I am in no way "threatened" by abject ignorance, misinformation, ridiculous beliefs based on nothing, as you post. OTOH, your responses show YOU feel threatened in your ignorance. Since NO answer you have posted can not be proven false.

Be well. I learned a loooonnnng time ago to EVER believe ignorance can be changed by education. Never (or rarely happens), no matter the discussion. Racism, hatred, medical ignorance, etc etc etc. The "true believers" can not be educated. And I feel sorry for them.

Again, when you get a REAL education in microbiology, virology, epidemiology, pharmacology, aerodynamics, etc etc etc, let me know.

In the meantime, I've made my point. Your "knowledge" is so obviously based on irrational beliefs it can not be changed.

              So, good luck to you.

              Wish you well.

And if you and yours ever REALLY get sick, please consult a good doc.

But, no more responses from me. Too tiring, and a total waste of time. Obviously.

What about BIO Suits-You know , the ones that almost look like Space Suits?

Then why are Face Masks and Duct Filters and Vacuum Filters rated by their filtration capacities ie: Hepa Filters etc.

Gee Doctor have we all been duped and none of these things are applicable? (I would not be surprised)

Now I must disagree with your explaination of the physics of "Being Sucked into Ducts". Those ducts are NOT PASSIVE when the heat or AC is operating. They ARE SUCKING everything they can-dust, germs, odor, you name it.

Studies have done on school absenteeism that have addressed the higher level during cold and hot weather and centralized air systems that might disagree with you.

In fairness, this area of Engineering may not have part of your Medical Curriculum, but then it may have.I don't know, but common sense tells me if Bio Hazard suits contain filtration systems to protect against air borne hazards, then FORCED AIR systems can blow that nasty stuff around better than mere passive inhalation.

But of course, I could be wrong, I'm only a layman, and my College Degrees are not in the field of Medicine while your are, that is why I knew the concept from -as I stated the Pasture MOVIE, while you knew the actual first person.
But we all know what Hollywood can do to facts as well as other
Mis representations like Marconi still being listed as the inventor of the Radio in spite of the Patent Office rescinding his patents in favor of Nikola Tesla.

The point here is that many opinions, studies, etc. are moments in a state of flux, that like Law and Morality can change via time and location.

I am sure that you worked hard and sacrificed many of Life's pleasures to achieve what you have. I respect that.
I make no personal opinion on any disagreement we may have, be it scientific or otherwise, but I do take exception to personal disparagement.

Neither of us actually know each other, therefore such endeavor is lacking in personal substance.
To let ego cloud response only infers a thin skin that is abrasive to any disagreement.

Actually, I think it was Polio in the 40's & 50's that got the whole gemophobic thing going. & from what I can recall (being very young at the time) the fears were very much justified. It was a very scary time. People would get a flu like bug, the net thing the were paralyzed & couldn't survive outside of an iron lung. I can recall people being much more germophobic then, than now. At that time the fear made people do

From what I understand, most germs (cold/flu varieties anyway) don't do well outside of the body, & don't accumulate outside of the body, unless they are being continually released from a host. From what I understand N1H1 has a half life of minutes oustide of the body. SO, cleaning surfaces & air purification are really short term in scope. ( nothing is necessary for longer term considerations)

From what I understand the best thing to do is to keep you immune system in tip top shape by taking lost of Vitamin C & D & getting enough zinc & making sure you are getting plenty of sleep.

                    Frayed Ego's

It would appear that this thread has become threatening to certain of those that I have responded, causing frayed ego's. That was not my intent. My intent was to support my thought on certain issues and not to cower under disparagements by those who seem very impressed with them selves.

Now I posted at 1054, for one was for one posted at 1032,I followed with one at 1143, but one in opposition was there from 1103 criticizing my alleged lack of response.
As I have said before I like to give some thought before responding.
So here is what I found interesting in the 1103 posting by the "Dr"
Since NO answer you have posted can not be proven false.

Irony that only MilDoc will understand

I am a direct descendant Of Dr. Samuel Prescott who was a participant in the famous ride of Paul Revere and as such qualify to be a member of the Sons of the American Revolution-haven't applied for it, but may.
So who was Dr. Sam Prescott?
There were three Riders- Paul Rever, Billy Dawes, and Dr. Sam Prescott

"..Revere and Dawes, meanwhile, decided to ride on toward Concord, where the militia's arsenal was hidden. They were joined by Samuel Prescott, a doctor who happened to be in Lexington "returning from a lady friend's house at the awkward hour of 1 a.m."

Small World, anybody ever heard of Everardus Bogardus ?
