      What I read for your birth year was fire discovered!!!
      Me? The Allies invaded Normandy, (1944).
      Bill birthyear shows Ben Franklin playing with the kite!

              Cool site. You can also get lots of info about any year from wikipedia.org -- including events, births, deaths, introductions, year by topic, by country, by month, or even decade and century -- all with no pop-ups. Different info, though.

              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1969 -- just type your year instead of 1969.

              Similarly you can check out any date (spanning years): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/January_1

              To get things like the weather, moon phase and other cool stuff, for any date at just about any place, go to http://www.wolframalpha.com and type in something like "January 1, 1969 in Okinawa, Japan" -- it was completely cloudy all day there.
