On the 30th we bought my my wife one of her college books off ebay (I'm saving $100 here vs the school book store) The listing said it was in New Hampshire.. No big deal.. Should be here by the 11th..

On Monday I still had no tracking info so I write to the seller asking if it had shipped..
I get a reply later that day saying he'll get me the info ASAP..
Wednrsday arrives and still no answer so I write again..
This time they come back with a tracking number but I don't like what I see..

    Tracking history... Help

9:55 am Processed at DHL Location. Mumbai (bombay), India

AFTER you get the book, leave the appropriate feedback, so at least those that follow you will get the benefit of your experience.

I'm fortunate that none of my hundreds of book purchases on Ebay have gone the way yours has, but I am thankful for those who post feedback, as I feel it has steered me away from trouble at times.

Unfortunately, it is likely also the international version of the book rather than the US version. Often there are significant differences between them, even for the same title and revision.

I buy and sell text books on Amazon. No hassles.

My coworker's husband sells books on Amazon and eBay. And in a practice I
find very questionable, he crosslists between the two. So I asked him, what
happens if someone buys your book on eBay and someone else buys the
same one on Amazon? Some how we works out a deal with one of his
buddies to send the book from their collection to the buyer.

Luckily, he sells mainly engineering books so I don't have to worry about
every needing something from his "stock".

When I was in school I had several sellers like this. The books (except for one) was the US version and they all arrived 2-day DHL. So you may be in luck yet.

on ebay listings there's three boxes at the top of every item listing. One box is the item description. Another box to the right top has the seller info, name and feedback rating. The thrid box to the lower right says "Other Item Info" and one of the things it lists is the Item location. also item number, where the seller ships to and how the seller expects to be paid.

I always check the item location before bidding.
Did he put India or Mumbai or something like that in there?

I always take international orders into account when bidding - it much harder to return and or complain when these things go cross-international boundaries, not to mention the shipping times start to move out. I have had the most rouble with international deals and avoid them whenever possible.

I checked the location before buying the book

Item location: Manchester, New Hampshire, United States

Nowhere in the listing did it say anything about India

The seller did have good feedback.. Win some loose some I guess..
I will be sure to make a few comments in my feedback.

If it isn't here by tomorrow I'll have to order another off Amazon with 2 day shipping so it's here before class starts.

One good note is you can sell the book on amazon for what you paid for it. Sell it $1 cheaper than anyone else and you'll sell it quick.

I got the short end of the stick a couple of times on Ebay but I could not leave negative feedback. Ebay suggested I try another browser but it still wouldn't accept negative feedback.

You have to be careful with this. If you are trying to sell the international
edition but list it under the US edition (different ISBN), Amazon will side with
the buyer that you sold him the wrong book when they file a complaint.

I sold one of my wife's 2nd edition law books under the 3rd edition listing-2nd
addition was no longer listed. I even put in the condition notes that it was
the 2nd edition and not 3rd. Sent it to the buyer, buyer nicely complained,
Amazon sided with Amazon and I had to have it sent back and pay back the
                        buyer.
