I doubt it... It's more like the beginning of a vast new food source for silverfish...

Not as long as I have tools and can still use them!
Why doesn't the word 'planing' show up in my computer spell check?

I was actually thinking maybe Ikea was planning on going a little more upscale?

Well, that's from a RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) student. As the title says DESIGN!
While it's not an heirloom piece, you must admit it's quite clever in design.

My reply to a commercial line of cardboard furniture:

Since when does disposable = eco? What does this look like after a year's use? How about after you spill a drink on it?

Compare this to well-built hardwood furniture that will last 100 years and tell me which is "eco"?

Instead of buying this crap, have your current couch reupholstered. Keep them in the proper order: Reduce first, then Reuse, then if necessary recycle

No the end of quality built furniture was when MDF came into widespread use.
Of course there is also the video of the guy that built all his furniture out of
                FedeX boxes.

Wow -- all this time Amazon.com has been sending me my goodies packaged up in quality writing desks, and I didn't even know it! Silly me.

Pretty cool, though. Just hope you don't spill your drink on it.

Good for DannyKim the student of the chair. Very clever. Will it work in a school, heck no, it says it will only support 180lbs... as anyone who has been to a school recently can attest, kids have gotten much bigger lately

Typical college campus, broke college student after his dorm room gets trashed, furniture.

Seems to me he probably got the idea after some friends gave his furniture a Viking funeral.

                        Not at all.

Back in the early '70's, Hennessey & Papenek wrote 2 books titled Nomadic Furniture, & Nomadic Furniture 2. These books are about putting together furniture & design components for the project oriented consultant/professional/temp that might be working on a location for a month or 2 & then move on to another location. The book focused on cheap, compact, light weight, can break down quickly & easily, but are also mentally stimulating from a design perspective.

Those books both had a section of cardboard furniture & they never caught on either, but there are some interesting ideas.

Cardboard is a light weight but strong material when used correctly, & like everything, has it's uses. I think it's good to see people continue to experiment with it.
