I Swear The Old Router Knows Something

It has been acting up for a while but the last few weeks was really bad, including knocking me offline from work a few times a day. I ordered a new one Saturday after it had to be restarted 4 times. It has been no trouble since then.

You ordered it online - didn't you? Of course the router knows what you are up to. In the meantime, I'd be extra careful with your private information. The old router might just be sending it all to his buddies in Russia.

you do know about this, don't you?

      !!! Warning !!!
This machine is subject to breakdowns during
      periods of critical need.

A special circuit in the machine called a CRITICAL NEED DETECTOR
senses the operator's emotional state in terms of how desperate
he or she is to use the machine. The CRITICAL NEED DETECTOR then
creates a malfunction proportional to the desperation of the
operator. Threatening the machine with violence only
aggravates the situation. Likewise, attempts to use another
machine may cause it also to malfunction. They belong to
the same union. Keep cool and say nice things to the machine,
      Nothing else seems to work.

Once you got another router, the critical need value went to near zero, thus disabling the circuit.

I sure wish it had been named "allocator" or something different than "router". I was expecting to read about router bits or something along those lines. And No, I wasn't expecting to read about the routing of 1's and 0's (bits)!

First HAL from 2001, then Christine from Steven King and now this. If it starts apologizing and promising to be good, don't listen, it's setting you up! It's gettin' scary out there!
