    HF aluminum racing jack

    Has anyone used one of the harbor freight aluminum racing jacks? I'm looking for something easy to use, and light enough that I can carry in my trailer. I'm kinda worried about the safety and durability (it is from HF), yet I don't want to spend a ton of money. Is this an item I should run from, or not?

      A friend of mine races in SCCA and BMW Club racing and has one and uses it regularly. I helped crew one weekend, and it's a great jack. It's light, and pumps quick. He bought his when they first came out and the price was much higher.

          I've got one of these big silver-and-blue aluminum monsters, and have used it extensively. It'll pick my Lincoln up on two wheels quick. Seems to be well-built, and I can find no complaint with it at all. It goes on sale often, and if you can combine with a 20% coupon, you can get a real good deal.

              I have the 3,000# version and never had a problem with it. The oversized carry handles are nice. The front 'wheel' is a single roller between the frame sides.

                  Thanks so much for your input. I have been looking at both the 4000 pound and 3000 pound models that you've pointed out. I have a 20% coupon, and guess I'll be using it today on one of these two. I like the square "pad" on the big blue monster, but the 3000 pounder seems a little smaller, thus easier to handle/store.

                      Worried about safety, you should be using jack stands! With how most jacks are built today, I believe them to be as durable as the next jack.
                      She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

                          That's for sure! (I'd bet he probably is). But, you gotta hoist the car before you can put the stands in place, after all, so the jack is still important...

                              Not even sure if at full extension one of those will even pick up a tire for me...

                              I typically use a Hi Lift Jack with the tire cradle...

                              Then again I drive a lifted 4x4 on 35's....

                              And yes, my gas mileage stinks...
