While I was out and about today I actually saw a calendar that had facts about Chuck Norris printed for every month. There were facts like:

Chuck Norris can sneeze with his eyes open.
Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits.
Chuck Norris is suing NBC. Law and Order is not a TV show but it is the names of his left and right fists.
Chuck Norris does not do pushups. He pushes the Earth down.

There's some impressive facts about Bill "Superfoot" Wallace, and Mike Stone.

These guys are from my era in M/A. Either one would stomp Chuck Norris even with his movie makeup scraped off. Of course that's just my opinion, but I'd pay to see that rumble.

LOML just taught me something along this line yesterday - Steven Seagal operated a dojo in Japan for training Japanese. It is kinda rare for a native Japanese to take karate instructions from a foreigner. Most Japanese parents would not permit that. I knew he grew up here and was fluent in Japanese.

Chuck Norris may have been an actor recently (the last 35 or so years) in a previous life he was a world champion Tae Kwon Do fighter and practitioner. He holds an 8th degree Tae Kwon Do black belt. Norris was the World Professional Middleweight Karate Champion from 1968 till 1974 when he retired from competition. Norris retired with a karate record of 183-10-2 How's that for some real Chuck Norris facts.

LOML just taught me something along this line yesterday - Steven Seagal operated a dojo in Japan for training Japanese. It is kinda rare for a native Japanese to take karate instructions from a foreigner. Most Japanese parents would not permit that. I knew he grew up here and was fluent in Japanese.

Not karate; aikido, actually... Seagal did not relocate to Japan until he was out of school. He "operated a Japanese dojo" primarily because he married a Japanese woman who was an aikido instructor, and whose Japanese parents funded a dojo for her. His former wife, Miyako Fujitani Sensei, is his aikido senior, and has always been the Chief Instructor at the dojo, so no face lost by the Japanese students there. Seagal's progression through ranks was accelerated beyond the norm while there, due to his "connections", and once he had achieved the level he wanted, he promptly left his wife and kids and moved to the States to pursue a movie career. He also married a soap-opera actress while still married to his deserted Japanese wife. Although he is a capable aikido practitioner, he is known to cut corners to achieve his ambitions (both personal and professional), and many among the mainstream aikido establishment view him as an irritant, renegade, or as a downright embarrassment (depending on who you talk to). Aikido is not as tolerant of the blustering and boastful as some other arts. He is a big dude though, and capable of considerable damage, but there are a lot of hardcore fighters from the striking or grappling arts that would have no trouble with him. Not only that, but he runs like a girl...

That is good info to know. I am not one that knows or follows movie/TV stars that much - except back when I was young. LOML does big time.

I have watched three or four of those "Search for the best Martial Arts" dojos on National Geographic channel over here. I was never impressed with their somewhat arrogant regard for the tradition of the sport and seemed far more interested in learning the sport for the macho image than the self discipline it teaches.

Not really much of a Norris fan either. I can respect his accoplishments in the MA, and I enjoyed a tv show he did called walker Texas ranger. I just like the jokes.

Well, if we're going to trot everyone out...

I think Bruce Lee could kick all their, well, you know. Shame about Bruce & son Brandon's untimely deaths.
