    Finally back

I had my surgery on Nov. 11. Had deviated septum and impacted sinuses repaired, as well as removal of the uvula. I can not begin to describe the pain from the uvula. I am still taking pain killers for it. The sinus and septum work has been at worst just a dull pain; most of the time it is a mild discomfort.

I'm still sleeping in the recliner to try and keep my head elevated. Still not allowed to lift anything heavy or bend over. The few times I have bent over, it hurts and I think my brains are sliding out. Still doing sinus rinses twice a day as well as saline spray to keep things moist. Have my second follow up on Tuesday, but things didn't look so good at the first follow up. Hopefully things will be better.

SWMBO has really done a good job taking care of me, and I make sure to thank her quite often.

We hope this takes care of the apnea, because I do not relish the idea of mandibular relcation. Plus, I can't do the CPAP machine due to clostrophobia (how ever you spell it).

I've been keeping up with everyone using the iPhone since my laptop died, but it is hard to type a reply this long on such a small keyboard.

Sounds like you've been through the wringer. Hopefully this will solve the sleep problem and more. Here's to a comfortable recovery. Don't feel bad about the small keyboard. I have problems with a full sized one.

The chief cause of failure in this life is giving up what you want most for what you want at the moment.

It could be worse, reminds me of a story.

          Subject: CRUSHED SCROTUM

During the service, the pastor asked if anyone in the congregation
would like to express praise for prayers which had been answered.
A lady stood up and came forward.
She said, 'I have a reason to thank the Lord. Two months ago, my
husband, Jim, had a terrible bicycle wreck and his scrotum was
completely crushed. The pain was excruciating and the doctors didn't
know if they could help him.'
You could hear an audible gasp from the men in the congregation as
they imagined the pain that poor Jim experienced.
She continued, 'Jim was unable to hold me or the children and every
move caused him terrible pain.. We prayed as the doctors performed a
delicate operation. They were able to piece together the crushed
remnants of Jim's scrotum and wrap wire around it to hold it in
          place.'
Again, the men in the Congregation squirmed uncomfortably as they
imagined the horrible surgery performed on Jim.
She continued, 'Now, Jim is out of the hospital and the doctors say,
with time, his scrotum should recover completely.'
All the men sighed with relief.
The pastor rose and tentatively asked if any one else had anything to
          say.
A man rose and walked slowly to the podium.
He said, 'I'm Jim and I would like to tell my wife, the word is
          'sternum.'

My son just had that done and he said it was the worse thing that he had ever gone through. He did say that after it stopped hurting, it was well worth the pain. Hope you have a simialr out come.
