        C-Man, last night I was watching:

        Secrets of the Dead: Airmen and the Headhunters

        A U.S. bomber crew shot down over the jungles of Japanese-occupied Borneo during World War II is rescued by Dayak tribesmen.

        The Dayak tribesmen who were out hunting heads were using a machete like sword with that shape blade and a handle about the same length as yours. I couldn't see if the handle was intricately carved as the men tended to keep a hold of it during the whole segment.

        It could be that yours was brought back after WWII and may even have been used.

        It will be interesting to hear what the experts have to say.
