    I'm an in-law now

Used to be an outlaw, now I'm an in-law.

Married my daughter off 1 week ago--she met and married an Australian chap in Israel. Very neat wedding, held in the Judean desert at a place called "Eretz B'reshit" (literally Genesis Land).

The whole week was a whirlwind, and I am only now starting to process it. Meeting the groom and the groom's parents for the first time is a real trip. (For a look at presents I made for newlyweds and new inlaws, check this out: http://bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=48107.)

I did tear up a little "giving my baby daughter away", but I didn't bawl like a baby. I'm saving that for sometime next week.

The bride and groom are planning to move either to the States or to Australia, depending on how certain things pan out.

Here are a couple of pics of wedding (the funny-looking chap with the glasses and beard is me...):

    Congratulations!

Just stupid curiosity on my part, and please pardon my ignorance, I honestly do not know.

I noticed the Yamikah (probably misspelled that, sorry) on the groom. Is that of religious significance to the groom / grooms family, or is that out of respect for the locale? (Sort of like the Sombreros LOML and I got paraded around in on our honeymoon in Mexico....).

Sorry if it seems nosey. I am one of those wierd folks that likes learning about cultures and traditions...

This was a traditional Jewish wedding, so every man wore a kippah, also known as a yarmulke. Of course, after the ceremony the men danced with the men and the women with the women. I have never danced with so many crazy men in my life!

Do tell. Any interesting traditions that maybe someone from a different background might not see?

(Is it the Jewish weddings that break the glasses?)

Here's a pic of the groom stepping on the glass:

              Congratulations.
I'll vote for Australia, it's always nice to have a great place to visit and the grand kids will have a nice accent.

Congrats to you and your family.

Your daughter got married, and you went on a vacation, double win. Of course, she could have picked a Dec-Feb date to optimize your weather escape....

Absolutely beautiful. I bet your daughter and her new hubby were dead tired after the wedding... I know LOML and I were totally wrung out afterwards...

I hope you got a chance to see the sights while you were in Israel. That is one of the places I would love to see...

Another vote for Australia. LOML has family all over Mexico, so it is easy for us to travel to Michoacan, Jalisco, Yucatan etc... My family is in the Pacific Northwest, the midwest, and Hawaii here in the U.S. It is always easy for us to find a place to crash when we travel...

Congrats on losing your "outlaw" status. And congrats to the newly weds. Another vote for Australia. You should tell them we voted on it, so that's the way it has to be.
