Thanks to Norm, I can now use a Brad Nailer and a Biscuit Slot maker(can't remember the correct name) and glue things together. Just think how many people Norm inspired to woodworking and how many then found Sam Maloof, David Marks and others like them. I will miss NYWS. I will get some new Flannel Shirts next week when I go to Idaho.

I have to admit that Norm got me into woodworking. Watching his show inspired me to spend the money on tools I need to do the job - and some tools I didn't need
. I was afraid after the reruns it was the end. My Saturdays will be sad at 1:00 Pm from now on.
If I could find a plaid flag, I would fly it at half mast.

Everyone is missing the important question. Who gets the tools?
I know Morash owns everything, but wouldn't an auction for charity be fun?
Does Norm and the show rank high enough for inclusion in a place like the Smithsonian? Do they have room for all his routers?JoeComment

I was wondering the same thing. I imagine some of the things would remain in the shop, since it is used sometimes for TOH, but items like the wide belt sander wouldn't make much sense to leave.
You're right that an auction for charity would be fun. An autographed, screen used router would probably get quite a few bids."It's a dog eat dog world out there, and I'm wearing Milk-Bone underwear."- Norm (from Cheers)

+ on everyone who will miss Norm. I heard about it on Woodworkers Journal weekly email. Guess I can't blame him in a way, after all 20 yrs. is a long while! I used to get it on PBS every Sat. morning, what I called the "saw dust soaps", at which LOML used to say, "Hmmph" and roll her eyes. Like a lot of us I learned some neat tricks from watching the show. Anyway I still will keep his framed pic. in the shop.RuffSawn

Man, that is a serious bummer. I didn't watch it regularly, but I enjoyed it when I did. I will miss seeing Norm on the TV.

Certainly will miss him and the show. Kind of strange to think that I can remember watching the first season, didn't seem like that long ago..................
I have purchased several of the NYW compilation books at Half-price bookstores, one was even autographed.
I am wondering what the package for the box set of DVD's will look like.
Flannel and Plaid, maybe QSWO using box joints or dovetails, how about a miniature copy of the workshop and the roof is hinged to get at the DVD's inside.....
A big thank you and goodnight to him and his detailed drarrings
