That does suck. I kinda figured it would happen after last year's rehash episodes.

Wow, what a loss IMHO, I really enjoyed watching and learning from that show. I think that at this point there are no show about woodworking on my network ;( First they took away Woodworks and now this!

That's a bummer. NYWS was always my favorite woodworking show.

He is still going to be on This Old House. The major sponsors of NYW did not renew sponsorship, the major reason this season's shows were basically reruns. Norm can shelve his brad nailer.

The articles I have found all pretty much say the same thing...how many different pieces of furniture can one man build over 20 years with really repeating himself.

I know Norm has his haters, but I think the shows I enjoyed the most are the ones where he really dumbs down his explanations. He really started that with shows like Table Saw 101, etc.

I think I need to go buy a new plaid shirt in his honor.

I'm going to miss the show, I've enjoyed it over the years and it has alwyas kept me going out to the garage to try something new. I have discovered another show on my area, Woodsmith Shop, from the same people who put out the Woodsmith Magazine. It is a fairly decent show but it is still fairly new. Hopefully they get better with age.

On a plus note, there is now room on PBS to start airing BT3 Central Workshop!

NYW will be missed. I've always learned something from it. I think that watching the show helped to teach me to look at a project as a series of manageable pieces, rather than one big, intimidating project.

A plaid, thank Norm day, is/was discussed over at Sawmillcreek. I think it is a wonderful idea. While I don't agree with everything of Norms (once a comment about tablesaws that was years later, "clarified" ), I do appreciate everything he did.
My woodworking experience was everyone in a rush at the school level. Either your work, or your body suffered. At home, my father was a cross between Tim Taylor and Red Green (toward the later). Norm and TOH both taught me a lot, to the point where my mom has called me to do things, instead of dad, and I have taught him tricks.
I hope we can arrange something as a thank you Norm, for all he has done over the years!

NYW will be missed indeed, I remember years ago watching the show and drooling for all those fancy tools, a few years ago i started "collecting" tools my self, too bad for me that no matter the how expensive tool is it will never replace a good set of skills an creativity.
I now how to use the brad nailer though!
Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you.
