Help me understand this stove type.

I'm in the market for a new stove. Can you help me understand the cooktop on this one in the link. Is this induction? The add says ceramic glass, is that just the material taht the top is made from? What are the actual heating elements made from?
There is a damaged unit (looks new) at my local Lowes with a bad heating element, severely discounted. Is it difficult to work on these heating elements? thanks.

I think it would say if it was induction since that would be an upscale feature.
I'd bet you replace the entire cooktop but that's a guess

Here is some info on ceramic cooktops

One caveat with those flat cooktops (which are great for cleaning): pots that don't have a flat bottom will pretty much not work.

It is probably just a regular heating element under the glass. Induction would say so because that wouldn't work with all cookware. I have a stove with a similar style top, but have never looked into what is needed to replace an element. Have you tried looking up any of the parts stores to see if they offer an exploded diagram, or looked at samsung's site for technical documents?

I looked on the Samsung site and it is a regular heating element, it said radiant, but didn't specify whether it is resistance or infra-red.

I would think that even though it is damaged, it would still have the warranty on it. In that case, have Samsung repair it.
