Any experience with HP All in one 6500

Was wondering if anyone has an HP 6500 all in one. Good, bad, ugly? Can you scan both sides of a document with the ADF and duplexer?

I have the HP 6310, which I think is the fore runner of the 6500. I've liked it quite a bit, has been overall reliable and for $89.00 can't be beat (got it on a closeout). Have used it to scan about 900 + pictures into a Family Tree program over the past 6 months. Haven't tried to scan both sides of anything or print both sides. Maybe someone else has.

I have had 3 HP All in ones, well actually 2 all in ones, and 1 PSC. a G85, a PSC1315, and a 4215. The OfficeJet G85 had the features you are talking about, and no, the duplexer they are talking about is for the printer function, not the scanner. (My PSC1315 has a duplexer as well, but no ADF).

Unfortunately the G85 was also the least reliable, as it died in less than a year. I still have the other two, the PSC hooked up to my Linux workstation, the 4215 hooked up to LOML's XP box...

I have a 6520. No, the ADF will not scan two sides autmatically. You can print two sides, but must manually flip the page(s).

I've been pretty happy with mine, which I've had for about 4 years. It sometimes indicates a stuck or misaligned carriage, requiring manual intervention to hit the "OK" button, but then just keeps chugging. Ink can be expensive, but that's not a new flash.

I find the accompanying software, HP Director, to be very useful and easy to use. Others are less convinced.

I have a 6500 sitting next to me. It won't automatically scan both sides. Other than that I've very pleased. Software is good, controls on the panel are easy. It takes an extra large black cartridge that costs the same as my old printer's cartridge but is rated for 3x as many documents.

Very cool all! Thank you so much for the info. Next time it comes around on sale, I will splurge and organize the office. My intent was to let it automatically scan all my documents and finally go all digital...some more of my Green movement I guess I can just get away with scanning batches and then the backsides of the batch and manipulating that in acrobat. Is there a better way? Perhaps by creating a macro or something? Any ideas? Not to be lazy, but I would like to do this the most efficient way possible. Thanks again
