    3.5 days and counting

Friends I'm happy to say that I've quit using smokeless tobacco. As of Monday evening this week I have given up the habit. I started in December 1981 so it's been a part of everything until now.

Your loved ones will thank you, Mark. I used smokeless from '84 til Y2K, and can relate. Congratulations, and stay on the wagon.

Congratulations, Mark! Keep it up. Breaking a habit, especially a long-standing one isn't easy.

Keep up the good work but you must always remember that it will be a long and very difficult journey. Temptation is around every corner and you will have to be strong to lick that addiction. Last week I celebrated my 10th anniversary of not smoking and there are still days that I crave that nicotine demon. Good luck and be strong.

Congrats! I know it wasn't easy, but you'll be better off for it.

Keep up the good work. I quit smoking cold turkey I think about 14 or 15 years ago. I am still afraid to pick up a pipe or a cigar as I am afraid I will go back to cigarettes. I can't afford that kind of money! Good luck.

Good for you Mark. It takes about six weeks to get the nicotine out of your system. I smoked and there were certain times of the day when I would light up. I found that by distracting my mind at these times, it went much smoother. It gets easier.

                      Good for you!

I quit Copenhagen about 12 years ago after 10 years of using it. I was using about 1/2 a can a day when I quit. It took about a year before the urges went away when in the usual situations that trigger the need. After eating, while driving, working in the garage, etc would all trigger the urge.
Gum and Sunflower seeds helped with the need to have something in my mouth.

                        Mark

Put a box of rasins in the pocket of your shirt or where ever you kept the tin. You will get so tired of rasins you will brake the habit of reaching for the tin. Did this when I quit smoking put a pack of life savers (the lighter) and a box of rasin (smokes) in my pocket and whould reach for a smoke and either ate rasins or life savers. after about 6 weeks I got tired of them and that was it. Prio to quiting I used Welbutren for two month before quiting and it all worked. Good luck you will feel better.

Much better off. I know the habit is hard to break but the alternative is much less pleasant.

Now if I could just kick my "see food" diet...

Congratulations, now just stick with it. If something like this isn't enough to get a person to stop, I don't know what is. I never chewed, but I smoked for about 15 years. Tried several times to stop, and finally succeeded when my son asked me to. Once you get over the initial cravings, you'll just FEEL BETTER in every way.

Calculate how much you spent on it during a year, put that money away, and after staying on the wagon for six months, use the money to buy yourself a present as a reward.

Keep up the good work, mark. I gave it up 12 years ago. I tried to get my wife to give it up over the past years. She gave it up 4 months ago . She has lung cancer, Started chomo and rardiation treatment. If a smoker could what she has been going through these past months they would give it up in a heart beat I just hope that my prayers will be answered.
