Funny, but another vote that it needs to be updated to "For those over 40" these days. The first IBM PC showed up at our house somewhere between 1st and 3rd grade and I'm a few years past 30...

You're absolutely right. It might take that to redirect this thread back to where it started, instead of these tangents.

I think the age limit there is too low... I am well over 30, and I had a home computer when I was a kid (Atari 800, Atari 1200XL, and Atari 1023XE)

My first encounter with a computer was a machine that had a touch screen display and featured an interactive chess game, I think I was about 8 at the time, and Jimmy Carter was president... (My Dad worked for Digital Equipment Corp at the time, and it was take your kid to work day...)

My high school graduating class was required to have at least 2 semesters of computer science, and we worked on Apple IIc computers in school..

Maybe we should make this for the over 50 crowd...

          Hey David,

I think you really need to get a life, proofreading posts is sorta going over the edge.

The irony is I'm usually not a good proofreader. I just noticed that one cause it has to do with computers. Now what I shouldn't do apparently is attempt to make jokes....

There must be a bunch of us around the same age, all being closer to 40 than 30.

Yeah, but I'm likely closer to 40 -and- 30 than most of the rest of you.

I'll bet $10 that we're exactly equally close to 40 -and- 30 to the day

What might help here is for those that are into comparison, to break out their birth certificates, and post them.

The reference to a 3 inch floppy dates the poem back about 8 years. Who uses those things anymore?

Besides, they were 3.5" and they weren't floppy at all. We used to call them 3 and a half inch stiffies.

Just to add to the confusion/discussion, that arrow pointy thing on the computer should rightly be called a planchette. Particularity when one is using Word

From Wiki: Paranormal advocates believe that the planchette is moved by some extra-normal force. Skeptics attribute the motion to the ideomotor effect. It's a stretch definition for the arrow pointy thing, but aptly describes my usage of it at times.
