    Cash for Codgers...

This was written and posted on facebook by a friend of mine. I think it is hilarious, regardless of political leanings... Now, please behave if you post a response - this is offered purely for fun and not to get into "real" politics.

    Breaking News...

Democrats, realizing the success of the President's "Cash For Clunkers"
rebate program, have revamped a major portion of their National Health
Care Plan. President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, and Sen. Reed are expected
to make this major announcement at a joint news conference later this week. I have obtained an advanced copy of the proposal which is named....

"CASH FOR CODGERS" and it works like this... Couples wishing to access health care funds in order to pay for the delivery of a child will be required to turn in one old person. The amount the government grants them will be fixed according to a sliding scale. Older and more prescription-dependent codgers will garner the highest amounts.

Special "Bonuses" will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.

Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, Brussel sprouts, or Girl Scout Cookies. All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other codgers in repair.

Codgers will fight back. They will likely start a movement for home birth deliveries, mid-wives, and a special "codger protection plan".

Oh, I don't know . . . when this 72 year old body looks at the number of doctors that he keeps busy he realizes that if he were an old car he would have used the clunker law and traded himself in for a younger model.

Anyway, if, when I wake in the morning, I find that all by appendages still move and other body parts function at all, I know its going to be a good day.

As a friend used to say . . . . "The golden age ain't all that golden, but it sure beats the alternative."

      Regards, Steve

This codger is still vertical and I qualify for the program, I meet all the requirement. Now I will kick the a*** of the first person who tries to turn me in. I ain't ready to go yet, I am not done spending my retirement or SS and haven't come close to using the maximum of my Part D prescription plan. I haven't bought enough toys yet either. When I go I want my body spent along with my money. I came into the world with nothing and that is the way I plan to leave it. Now on the political side. My Congresswomen is not having a town hall meeting but telphone confrence call type meeting, wonder why? In the 60's and 70's I fought the demenstrators now I are one, go figure. The politicans got to remember one thing us Codgers get up in the morning full of aches and pains which makes us cranky untill the meds take hold and we get some coffee in us.

This program will never get through Congress as presented. The Brussel sprout lobby is too powerful.

I don't know about the former, but the second part is definitely part of our current budget, and seems to be par for the course for both parties lately.

P.S. Does the word budget even really apply when dollars in and dollars out can be a trillion and a half apart?
