    Ooops! Sorry!

My telco knocked on my door about 8:00 this morning and asked if my DSL or local phone was out. I checked, and they were. When my neighbor had his house built, the telco tied him in for free in exchange for burying a line on his property along the road so when more houses came in most of the work was already done. Well a crew working on one of the new houses whacked the line. The telco wanted permission to string a temporary cable on my property so they could get things working while they fixed the buried one.

I was supposed to work from home today. Oh well.

make sure you call your telco and get them to credit your account for today's outage...

I do this all the time to Time Warner and you know what, after about the 3rd outage, I stopped having issues with outages

Nah. Not their fault - the guys who cut it were trenching for an electrical line for driveway lights or something. Besides, an hour after it happened they were unspooling cable from their truck for the temp line. How much more prompt can you be?

And Ed, I AM at work. Had to come into the office.

so from your house, compose an e-mail. It should say, As previously agreed, I'm working from home as an office today. Unfortunately the communications are down, so I'm unable to work. I am taking the day off, unless otherwise instructed.

          Then, press the send button.
