    Rain

As long as we're talking about energy sources, how about using rain for a steam engine? Of course you have to drive in downpours to get anywhere, and probably very slow. On sunny days, work in the shop.

Won't work. Sleet contains enough energy to cool beer, but you'd need a separate heat source to use rain in a steam engine, assuming the whole thing was practical to begin with.

Uh, no sleet doesn't contain energy to cool. Cooling is an effect of the energized (heated) body transferring its energy to the non energized (cold) body, so the beer would be the source of energy.

I spend too much time around engineers.
