Due to a shoot out here tonight between some drugies I have decide to install a Survalence System on the front of my garage. Need some recomendation and place to look. Would want a system to work in low light and darkness possible a movable camera or two cameras to cover more area.

    Thanks

I need to record probably in time lapse or at least 8 hours at a time. Do need it be able to "see" in low light and darkness. I live on street that is the main street in our neighborhood withe a street that "T's" into ours right in front of our house. Lot of donuts are made at that intersection. Would be nice to record the big accident that will happen some day and some of the drug activity that happens. Would set up the equipment in my den.

        Don't forget the budget question.

FWIW, i do recall reading that the PIR leds due diminish over time in their ability to project (loss of distance). Some reported 60% decline within 3-4 years. I have a corner lot and would love to install some surveillance, but it always seems unjustifiably expensive.

The company I used to work for installed security cameras due to a crime problem. Thieves would steal anything left outside, including auto parts off of the vehicles. guess what? they stole the cameras too!

I have installed a Video capture camera which records when motion occurs along with a motion sensitive light switch. This is an indoor setup but a similar system might be used for your application. The camera was quite inexpensive.
