    I'm blown away...

So, my BIL calls me today and asks if I can come over late afternoon and help him with a couple of things on his car. He says it might take some time... So, I toss a few tools together, and get my tired butt over to his place.

When I get there, it becomes immediately apparent that I have blundered into some kind of impromptu block party. One of his neighbors and I both have birthdays this month, so we were apparently used as the excuse to call everybody together.

One of the local groceries apparently had a sale this weekend on snow crab legs for something like $2.50 a pound, or some other ridiculous figure, and BIL bought 50 pounds of the dang things. They were steaming them up in a galvanized trash can. One of his other neighbors has a wife who is full-blooded Cajun, and she had whipped up enough jambalaya to fill a pickup truck! Somebody else brought about 50 ears of roasted corn on the cob, and my BIL had turned an old jetted tub that he had stored into a makeshift cooler, in which gallons of bottled beer languished just this side of frostbite. Couple guitars showed up, and in the middle of the shindig, SIL arrives with a margarita machine

I just got back, and I'm so stuffed and buzzed that I don't know whether to sh!t or go blind right now... How long till my next birthday??

I don't know how those who have to go to work in the morning are going to make it... As for me, I've got an 8:00am appointment to take my written DL test! It'll be... interesting...

I don't know about the cake, but there was plenty of cheesecake.

Thanks guys... I'm still recovering... It does go to show that (outside the shop, at least) sometimes the less planning that goes into something, the better it turns out...
