Well, that does explain the government interest at least. When "Someone set us up the bomb" it was bound to attract attention.

Mr. Mulzer already broke the code. Roll back up the thread.

It was there. It was removed after there were requests for an explanation.

As my dear departed mother used to say "Always wear clean underwear and never put anything on your computer that you won't show to the whole world".

I think that's pretty solid advice.

It looks like Sid and GB got it exactly right. No right wing propaganda or exaggeration. Here's what Kim Komando says about it in her blog:

                  http://www.komando.com/about/my-log.aspx?id=7079

Granted, this was meant for car dealers and not the general public. I certainly would not click on a link that had that kind of warning. Would you?

It is my understanding the warning was rewritten over the weekend.

Most folks would, and have done so...

Ever read the EULA's you agree to before clicking accept? Most of them say it's okay for the software to corrupt all of your data and leave your computer non-functional and after doing so at most they may need to refund the purchase price. Many grant the maker the right to search through and audit files on your computer with limited notice, etc...

I watched the link in the OP. I picked up ath the very beginning that it was a dealer log-in screen. However listening to the other woman it seemed that she was saying this effected consumers. I'd say it was hype. I'd also say it's shameful that the warning was ever there. I think even businesses have a reasonable right to privacy in their effects.

Yes, it was ther, and sure sounds Orwellian.

But my objection is to the way it was presented in usual Beck fashion. Strongly suggested that the Gov could worm its way into home computers. Pure hogwash since this notice was on a section open only to dealers.
