Do you wear your ears with your hat?

I was out using the leaf blower today to clean up a million flower petals (**** Catalpa) in the backyard and I noticed that the ears were not keeping the noise out as well as normal. This usually just means a slight adjustment and all is well, but today they would not seal at all. At first I thought my head was warped, but it occurred to me after that my baseball cap was likely responsible for the gap. I can't say I've noticed this before, so maybe the ears have lost some of their cushioning over time?

I guess I'll have to replace the ears, has anyone used the Zem hearing protectors with outdoor equipment?

I use the big earmuff style with no hat. With a hat I use the expanding foam type ones.

I use my muffs, with the headband spun around to the back, and I wear a wide brimmed canvas hat, I tend to soak the hat in cool water just prior to going outside to keep my head from frying.

I too spin the headband around. I use the 2 dollar earmuffs from HF, they work great and the price can't be beat. I've got four pair scattered around. I get more interference from safety glasses than my hat.

Foam earplugs make my ears itch. Can't stand them for all day.

The muffs I use have a thicker ear pad so they conform to the shape of the hat.

If it's a wide brimmed hat then I use plugs but they do bug my ears.
