    Electrical Problem

About an hour ago I lost all power in the garage/shop. I have gone through all of the main breakers and can't find a problem and no other area of the house is affected. Nothing was on int the shop except the lights when it happened so there could not have been an overload. Any suggestions?

I learned something new. being a manufactured home there has to be a master disconnect on the outside. It was in a panel right beside the meter on the side of the garage along with the breakers for the shop.

likely a hidden GFI as Daryl suggested. Might be somewhere in the house. The front porch outlet is controlled by the GFI in the powder room of all places, in my house.

Garages usually have one GFCI outlet controlling all of the rest. Another place to check - do you have a GFCI outlet on an outside wall in the garage area?

Does your garage have a sub-panel?

As noted by others, it could be a GFCI, especially if the whole garage is on one circuit. Same thing happened to me in my old house before I added more circuits--- I went crazy trying to trace the problem, from the garage, through the dining room, to the bathroom, to the tripped GFCI... ARGH! Took me about 45 minutes to hook everything back up after I found that so I could verify that was the real problem... Shortly thereafter I added new circuits in the garage with their own GFCI's...

Back in the early 80's, it was evidently cheaper to run a long wire (the bathroom was on the other end of the house from the garage) than install a 2nd GFCI.

Like the others, my guess is GFCI. In my house the guest bath, master bath and a few of the kitchen outlets are on a GFCI in the master bath. Those outlets quit working once and it took a while to figure that out.

I have some weird GFI connections and that was my thought but I have checked all that I can find. Tomorrow I'll dig some more possibly i missed one.

Check the GFI's in your bathrooms.

I've run into garage power outages due to upstairs bathroom GFI's at three of my customer's homes.

All the homes were built in the 70's and 80's.
