    Computer Desk Concept

The fusion of the real world and the digital world...

This is a different approach to a computer desk. I like the concept and admire the skill in execution but I don't think it's there yet. What do you think?

Bill, on the Sunny Oregon Coast, where today it's actually warm out.

Interesting, but I agree it is not quite there yet.

The keyboard needs to be replaceable. Also, its position needs to be variable.

What do you suppose the litle lockable window thing is for? A laptop slot? That would be a good idea.

I need to make myself a desk here pretty quickly, but the photo is not quite what I had in mind.

Temporarily at least, probably a sheet of plywood on saw horses.

One of the photos on her site shows it open with a power button, card reader slot and I think a USB port.

A friend looked at the pics and commented, "The perfect computer desk in in a room with a door you can close and hid it all."

Integrating the computer with the desk is nothing new. It's as un-ergonomic as you can get.

I would much rather have a computer desk that is a piece of art, and a computer that is a piece of replaceable technology. but I'm funny that way.

            Looks like a fire hazard.

Well, there is always this approach.

              Woodsmith

Doesn't look too bad and hides the mess when closed. I have been thinking of using the hardware that makes a coffee table into a sofa table for eating. Only having the desk top move up and out of the way and the computer under it. That way I can have my desk and use it too.

Well, it's art for art's sake, IMO.

Like so many things artists do, it's a statement, but not necessarily a useable one or even one that is practical, ergonomical, or executable.

If it were a real and functionable computer desk, I see all kinds of problems with it, from the base (can you see someone putting their big feet on that cross member) to the table top (no referance area).

But, it IS an interesting piece of woodwork!
