    Ikea Connectors

Does anyone know where to get something I call Ikea connectors? These are the bolts going into round barrels to pull two right angle pieces together rather than biscuits, mortise & tenon or whatever.

    Shipping might be pricey though.

Tom, I know what you are talking about and my Lowes here has them, or at least it used to. Check in the HW aisle.

generally I think what you are talking about is what we call Knock down furniture connectors -there's several styles.
Two responders listed the cam-type fasteners in which the ~1" metal cylinder is rotated to lock the joint and one listed a ~3/8" cross dowel in which the dowel is locked in place by a right angle bolt.
Maybe this kind (they call it a cross dowel) is it?

Woodcraft and Rockler should have them in their on-line catalogs. Lowes or HD may have them in their bins.

Loring, what's the difference between the fastener you are showing, and Bill's first reply to this thread?

                same fastener.
I posted a pic and two more sources.

they're European so most catalog sizes are given in mm.
I gave the Imperial approximations so he could picture them.

I hope my info was useful.

Because they constantly have problems with missing hardware, my Ikea (and presumably others) has a huge wall of bins with hardware parts that are free for the taking! It's right by customer service in mine, most are pretty similar I think.

My local Rockler, Woodcraft, and Ace Hardware stores also carry these.
