I drink milk every day, but I'd drink more if I could find an alcohol bearing cow!

Ice cream, maybe a little. Cheese, not a bit. I put it on cereal, but don't really take in that much.

I have always had a glass of milk with my meals. And cheese i eat by the pound just cant get enough!

When i was in grade school on thru high school we went to the dairy down the road about every other day to get fresh milk i used to love to drink the cream right off the top !
Can you still go to the dairy and get fresh milk these days?

I probably go through 2-3 gallons by myself each week. Very few other foods have as high an amount of protein per calorie. And I can't think of any that taste as good... Especially with espresso...

Try skim milk then. No fat whatsoever in that stuff. I thought it watery to start but now drinking 2% is like drinking straight cream.

As for drinking milk, my doctor sugested I should be having atleast four servings per day. So either I drink milk, or I take yet another pill. I choose to get my calcium through milk, cheese, or yogourt. Good thing I like them all.

                  I am a complete milkaholic.

Fortunately I drink skim milk, otherwise I would be cow like.

In Wisconsin (maybe nationally) it is illegal to sell non-pasteurized milk for consumption. There are one or two dairies that do, but they claim they are selling it for the purposes of cheese-making.

At least in Wisconsin, fresh milk appears to be a growth industry. It seems driven by those that insist that the pasteurization process removes all the health benefits from fresh milk. Not surprisingly, many of these people are older and enjoyed fresh milk when they were younger.

Not exactly allergies. Some errant friendly bacteria decided once upon a time that they would henceforth turn milk into acid in my intestines. This tends to irritate your digestive system. Was quite painful. Went undiagnosed for 20 painful years. I never made the connection and neither did a series of doctors. That is until I happened to switch personal physicians and she had read about this in a medical journal and happened to remember it.

Growing up, Dad traded eggs for milk from a guy down the street. Brought it home in a wide mouth gallon jug and processed it in the kitchen. Processing consisted of pouring it into a clean gallon jug through cheese cloth, just to get the flies and other bugs out!

Sitting here right now with a big bowl of fudge ripple ice cream and a glass of milk!

I'm guess that they're talking about pasteurization rather than homogenization. There are a lot of places that do that in the name of not spreading salmonella, e.coli or the like... My mother grew up with cows at their house/farm and her sibs still talk about liking fresh (from the cow) milk. But, while I love all things dairy I'm all for killing the bugs and not being reminded that it's just bovine breast milk...

I like milk to drink, beef to eat, and leather seats to sit on!

Since I was 8 to 9 years old, I started developing severe stomach acid when eating things like tomatoes, oranges, cinnamon, peppers etc. And a combination of Tums, alka seltzer, Rolaids and milk was a part of my daily diet from that age until I was 54. At that time a new young whipper-snapper gastrointestinal doctor told me he was going to cure me! He did with a little yellow pill.

Shortly after that, my colonoscopy doctor told me that milk was the cause! I argued with him and told him that milk was part of what cooled and coated my stomach. I NEVER got acid stomach from drinking milk but I could eat acidic things and have milk neutralize the acid a little later. He admitted that some foods have the opposite effect on some people.

AS to 1% & 2% milk - here in Japan, 2% tastes like US whole milk; non-fat milk tastes like a creamy US 2%. My girls loved the Japan milk flavors for this reason. I am going to miss this milk when I retire.
