    Alexis Arguello found dead...

...of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was 57. Once one of the toughest men alive, it's sad to see how it ended for him.

Yeah, and it may not be suicide either. Heard a radio report on this. I knew of him as a great boxer (although not that familiar with him) but didn't know he was born into slum poverty and pulled himself out, cured himself of a drug addiction, had a learning disorder, had a divorce, boxed his way into three titles, and ran for vice-mayor of Manauga, was defeated, came back next election and won, then won mayorship, only to have allegedly committed suicide when it was alleged he used some govt. funds for personal reasons.

He committed "suicide" by shooting himself in the heart.

So, the thinking was, a guy that goes through all that, overcomes all those things, isn't committing suicide over financial mishandlings (especially in a country or area of the world where such things, while serious, are not as big as they would be in the USA or Europe). And, a person generally doesn't commit suicide by shooting onelf through the heart (although I've no experience in this area.)

          Just food for though.

Well, look at it this way... If a guy can work his way up from all that misfortune, he must have a heapin' helpin' of pride. Sometimes a person's sense of pride can be the most threatened when he gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar... A highly-respected and successful developer right here in Florida recently blew himself away when it became apparent that he was gonna get caught having looted his companies and swindled his partners out of million$. For some, it seems the only way out.
