    Panther in wolf's clothing!

Here's a 10-year-old car I drove for a client yesterday. Please excuse the pitiful pictures, but I only had my cell with me yesterday.

It's a 1999 Bentley Continental SC, turbo-charged and supercharged, apparently. It goes like a rocket but, because the roof comes off (in sections that store in a special compartment in the trunk), the chassis has been "firmed up," so every bump is felt. Still a pleasure to drive, though!

    Two roof sections removed:

That is really cool. Is it a retrofit? I thought the SC coupe's were a later development in the late 90's.

You're correct, Cabman - I've corrected the age of the car in the original post. Must have had (yet another) "senior moment"!

        Ray.

I'm having senior moments almost daily, or maybe more often than that...I can't remember. We should signify an acronym for the disability as "SM". But that may get confused with the "sadomasochist" acronym, and we wouldn't want that to happen.

Bentley's are incredible cars. Even the new ones that are just supposed to be luxury cruisers are 2 1/2 plus tons of fast. Did you have a fun drive? That particular car is beautiful. I like the two door look. Do you pronounce it coupe, as in "coup" or like coo-pay? You gotta be PC these days, like adding the "a" at the end of Porsche.

            It's on the "right" side.

Great ride. I wasn't expecting that last picture, though I know I should have been. Perhaps this image will cause less confusion with the left/right brain thing.

There was only a small amount of motorway in the journeys, but it was still fun to drive. As it's "Coupé" with an accented "e" it's "coo-pay."

I'd guess that if you can afford the car in the first place, fuel figures aren't that important. It's a "high days and holidays" car anyway. He's also got two other Bentleys, a Rolls Mulliner-Park Ward convertible that's been 20 years in restoration (the replacement roof has now had to be replaced again, without a wheel turning!) and a silver Mercedes S500 and two other Mercs as everyday runabouts.

I take it he's one of your less well-off neighbours?

Very confusing now, how come the spedometer and Tachometer are pegged to the right reading maximum RPMs and mph but the car is just sitting there with no driver???
