    Longing for a dust mask...

that is designed for eye-glass wearer like myself, so my glasses won't get fogged-up with that nostril exhaust everytime I wear one. My only way around that is to get contact lens, but thats not a good idea with regards to eye safety issue.
Hey Lee, here is another idea you could brainstorm on and come up with a design.

I've heard that if you coat the lenses of your glasses with shaving cream, then wipe it off, you won't have the problem with fogging. I haven't tried it, but others have said it works. It's worth a try. If you do try it, let us know how it works for you.

Ever try the Dust Bee Gone? Only effective to 3 microns, but after trying many, many types (I wear glasses and have a beard) these are the only ones I don't swear at!

"Guaranteed not to fog your glasses!" And it doesn't!

      http://www.dustbeegone.com/dustmask.html

Company also sells "Parker's Perfect" glass cleaner and anti-fog solution. I tried this before the Dust Bee Gone. Worked well, but not needed with the DBG mask:

        Howie,
There are several versions that members prefer that don't cause fogging of glasses. I like this model from AOSafety.

Here's another thread on the topic.

Not fogging my glasses and maintaining a good seal with a full beard are just two of the things I love about my Resp-O-Rator. See http://duxterity.com/ and be sure to follow the link to the YouTube video demo by the inventor.

I wear glasses in the shop.. have a beard and drive a pick-up. I love the North CFR-1 for $19 from Highland Woodworking. I have seen them a few other places in the last year and I believe Amazon is one? Not sure of that but.. they have it for $35 with 20 filters and the filters come 20 pk box for around $15 or so.

I have heard good about the Dust Bee also but have not tried it. I like mine because it is actually comfortable with glasses.. doesn't fog them and fits pretty snug on my trimmed beard. But... it's not a vapor mask and you should have one of those also for finish fumes.

Will the CFR-1 work for members who wear glasses, have a beard, and don't drive a pick-up?

I gave up on cheapie dust masks years ago since I never could find one that was effective at keeping my eyeglasses clear.

I had ordered a replacement for my old 3M 6200 series face mask not long before Marc Spagnulo from The Wood Whisperer recommended the very model I had bought. (I did go with his suggestion for particulate filters...

The cost adds up, but I feel is WELL worth it...

3M #7503 If yours comes up like mine did, there should also be a link to buy two additional needed items with that...
3M 2091 Particulate Filter for ultra fine dust etc... and 3M #502 Organic cartridges.

One Additional item is needed for say final sanding finishing ops and that is an adapter that allows you to use both the particulate AND vapor carts together....
                3M #502 Respirator Filter Adapter.

I keep all of this stuff in a large Gladware container when not in use, to keep junk out of my respirator, and to keep as much moisture out of the vapor carts as possible.

The Wood Whisperer Dust In Time video.

                Hope that helps...

I wasn't aware anyone doesn't own a pick-up but... I did call North this morning and they cleared the mask for 99.9% efficiency if you know someone that has a pick-up and have drank at least one beer in your lifetime.

I gotta know. What does driving a Pick Up have to do with what dust mask / respirator you use?

Mine's a Dodge. Will that be an issue? I also favor Miller.

+1 on that mask. I had a full-on respirator from AO safety, and it was just too heavy. That mask is light, has cheap replacement filters, and seals well and is comfortable.

Absolutely nothing DB but.. it has everything to do with having a sense of humor.

Not a probem on the Dodge JR as I also drive a Dakota at this point but... I would have to question if Miller High Life would qualify? Now.. please don't think I might be biased because I worked for Anehieser Busch down in Tampa for 6 years just after Vietnam before moving back to Atlanta.

Florida beer drinkers run in two circles.. one preferring Budweiser and the other preferring Miller. No other brands are recognized. The only time they congregate together is in a bar but... the Bud drinkers sit on one side and the Miller drinkers the other and each group will protect their turf.

Now... if I were in a dessert dying of dehydration... I might consider drinking a Miller if it became available. Ummm... aahhh.. come to think of it... probably not as I would prefer to lick the condensation off the outside of the bottle first to attempt to re-hydrate before having to resort to drastic measures of actully drinking the contents. ha.. ha... ha..ha..ha..

Well.. maybe not quite that drastic but it makes a good story and I'm sticking to it.

                            Regards...

I know the ole shaving creame routine works on bathroom mirrors. So I'd say eye glasses as well.
