    Do it now

Just a reminder to back up your hard drive. I just finished mine.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to start a semi quarterly DVD archive of my office servers. The daily tape and weekly USB ought to be done by now. I've been forgetting for too long.

My data directories get backed up nightly. System gets a full backup once a week on Sundays and incremental once a week on Wednesdays. Now that I have most of the apps reinstalled, it won't need much more than that.

Acronis True Image + Buffalo Linkstation for the win. Nightly diff'ng backups of the in-work stuff, weekly of the entire harddrive. Already saved my bacon more than once. Makes upgrading to a bigger drive cake, too.

I need some new DRD-RW media. My existing ones are getting worn out...

My fulls are taken to external HDDs that I take with me during emergencies.

Incrementals are done to DVD-RW media.

I am using Backula on CentOS, and Microsoft Backup on Windows XP...

I have an HP Media Smart server on my home network (http://www.hp.com/united-states/camp...c=DSp149325143). I have the EX variety. It backs up the hard drives on my desktop PC and my kids PC every night.

I also use Acronis and backup across the network to a system I use only as a data/media server and also to a secondary 1Tb drive in my main system.

I still like doing a seperate copy every once in a while. I have automated backups at home and on my servers at work, but the retention period on the various media is only about a month. Sometimes it is nice to be able to get to an older backup when necessary.

Mac drives don't fail? Mac users don't delete files accidentally? Cool!

I think he's referring to some program call "Time Capsule" which is like the nasty VMS file change revision stuff from decades ago.
