    Powermatic collector price?

I'm thinking about picking this Powermatic III Model No. 075 dust collector up. I'm checking on the power requirements. Looks like it may be wired with a step down converter.

I think it's a fair deal. Would anyone else have an opinion?

Three-phase 230v. You'd better get the details on how it's wired.

I'm with JR. Unless you are commercial and have 3 phase I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. Some may argue that you can get a converter and that is a valid argument with a tool that is a major steal and retails for major bucks but... you are talking about a dust collector here and it fits neither category that I just mentioned.

      Good luck deciding...

I think Sarge summed it up just about perfectly.

I think Pelligrini is saying that the clearly "aftermarket" electrical gear hanging on the motor support strut is the required 3Ph to 1Ph converter.

That said, and absent any info about the quality of the bags, Grizzly has a comparable 3HP four-bag collector for $450, ships for free. For that little difference I'd most likely pony up the extra cash for a brand new machine with a warranty.

I also think that it just might slip into your shop -- provided you move most everything else out.

I was looking at the title for the thread and the first thing I thought was "there is a collectors model Powermatic?" Visions of a Powermatic tablesaw with Harley Davidson logos or something like that.

Thanks for the info guys. The sellers wife sent me a bunch of photos of the wiring. I still can't confirm what's all there. The plug on there now is a 4 prong. One of the boxes is made by square-d. Haven't been able to identify it.

I'll pass on it and save my pennies for a 2hp with a canister. Most any bagged collector is too tall for my shed, but I've been toying with an enclosure on the backside if I run across a deal on a bagged collector.

I was going to say... There is no WAY you need a DC that big unless you are building a new shop and running duct work...

I thought you had a 2HP canister equipped DC... Or am I thinking somebody else?

If you weren't so far away I'd let you check out my HF DC / Wynn combo. I am pretty happy with it, but honestly it doesn't get much use yet... Most of my shop time lately has been trying to find the shop floor...

Yea, it is big for my current needs, but I don't plan on being in that little shed forever. Having the large capacity bags would be nice. I overflowed the chip collector can for my planer a couple times during that bench build. Not having to worry too much about the way it is ducted would have been nice too.

I've been leaning towards the 2HP penn-state canister or maybe the grizzley. I've thought about the HF unit & the wynn, but I do like the flapper feature of the others. The price difference between all those setups isn't that much.
