Actually, fungi are a lot like politicians--they fester in dark, damp places, they both get under your skin, and they are hard to get rid of.

I, too, have toenail fungus and my Dr. wrote me a generic prescription for a 30 day supply with 2 refills and instructed me to go to Walmart where the cost is only $9. It's only been 2 weeks so I don't have the results yet. I also have to have a blood test every month while using this med. because of other problems.

Do you have the name of the generic? I'd also be interested in finding out if it works for you.

Terbinafine 250MG, one per day dosage, it will probably take 2 or more months (my guess) before I see any real results.

It has been about one month since I started using the generic pills and I can see about one quarter inch of new nail growth and it is quite noticeable so they are working well. Two more months and the toe nail should be perfect. I can't help but wonder how the pill knows to go to my left big toe and nowhere else.

I picked up the thing living in London and it's really annoying. My doctor here cut off a bit of it and sent it off but never told me the results. I took Lamisil for a couple of months but its has not gone away nor seemingly got any worse.

It's rather embarrassing as I do Tae Kwon Do so my feet are readily in view. I might ask my new quack for a prescription or buy stock in vicks.

It can take a while. The whole nail has to grow out and the affected part is growing slowly. I've been on the generic for about three or four months and it is finally making demonstrable progress.

Stick with it.

Nail Update

Thanks Ed62, I've been using the 50/50 mix of hydrogen peroxide and water for about 2 weeks and I see some improvement. Even if it does not clear the problem totally, I can't bet the cost. And no, I'm not posting any pics. I don't even like looking at the nails let alone anyone else.
