Why be so emotional about it? Let's not call it "borrowing" tools but renting them. Home Depot rents tools and charges you somewhere around 30% of the tool's cost per day. And that is presumed that tool is used properly and returned in good condition. Grout guy rented your chisels for a day - he owes you 30% of a cost of your set presuming he returned it to you in good condition. If chisel only needs sharpening - I would call it good condition. If chisel is ruined - that is extra charge. Nothing personal, simply business.
Am I overreacting?

Against my better judgment I loaned out my nice Stihl chainsaw and chain sharpener to a friend. When I got it back the chain was toast and the sharpener bit was too. Despite the fact that I educated him on the use of both. On the good side he says he will pay for the new chain and sharpener bit. He better I fix both his and his wife's computers when they inevitably let them get trashed with a host of virus's and malware and or have hardware problems.Last edited by sparkeyjames; 05-29-2009, 09:31 PM.Comment

It's a shame he already paid him
