Cool! She has very good tone, and wonderful long phrases. Her breath control and embouchure are amazing. Very, very musical, especially for one so young.
It's good to see girls taking up brass instead of being steered to flute or clarinet.
And she's cute as a button!

Uh, Cman, that's a nice song, BUT -- Taps, as is mentioned in the article you refer to in the about taps IS 24 notes long. There is no long or short version, unless you repeat it to make it longer. What the young girl is playing is "ll Silenzio is an Italian song. It was written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso and Guglielmo Brezza which has sold more than 10 million copies. It became a number one hit in 1965." It is most assuredly something that he purposely based on the sound of Taps, but it is NOT TAPS.
As from your noted history, the bugle call 'taps' was composed by the Union Army Brigadier General Daniel Butterfield, who commanded 3rd Bgd, 1st Div in the V Corps of the Army of the Potomac. Butterfield wrote the tune at Harrison's Landing, Virginia, 1862.
BTW -- not to take away from the young girl, but I find this version more musically pleasing, but that's just maybe my ears.

If I can find it, I will start another thread on an "alternative" taps called "Taps for the Fallen Brave" that I think is really beautiful.Bernie

Uh, Bernie, what the young girl is playing is "Last Post" (ll Silenzio) which was way before Nini and Guglielmo. "Last Post" was used by British forces in North America in colonial times, but its function was taken over in the United States by "Taps", which has been used by the United States Army since 1862.
There's a lot of controversy about "Taps", and it's likely the 24 note version was inspired by "Last Post".
