How do I open my computer case?

So I just purchased a refurbished dell computer, and I cannot figure out how to open it up... When I press the buttons on the bottom and top in the back, it comes open at the back, but it doesnt seem to go anywhere after that... Call me a moron I guess, but im pretty clueless...

I have the same case at home. Push the big button on top and the back will separate. Then pull the two sides apart at the back. It is hinged at the front. It is easier to do if it is standing up.

Dell is a master of making their cases difficult to open, but everything is done without any tools (shame, less excuse to buy more!) I've seen similar ones, and David is correct. Just don't force anything, and expect to see some kind of clips holding the cards in, or drives in, whatever you are upgrading.

Don't beat yourself up - Dell did this to 'help' the customer, but without instructions it is a bit frustrating. If this was Apple, they'd have just molded a couple of pictures on the case to help out.

Anyway, The case is designed like a suitcase. The back opens up, with the hinges to the front! The large buttons on the top and bottom of the case must be depressed before the side of the case swings open. Typically, the left or right side of the case will come off, it will swing open like a hinge, or the main case will lift off its base in a single piece. The only problem should be to understand which side would swing out... Your case might have an arrow to indicate the direction.

        Maybe the image will help.

I've got one of those too, plus a couple more at work. It can be troublesome at times. My best results are pushing both buttons while on its side and lifting up the case while holding the buttons. If it doesn't open I'll give it a couple quick upward jerks while still holding it with the pressed in buttons.

For all I know, that is my old company provided Optiplex GX-240...

The other guys are dead on right with that. Easy machine to get into, kind of tough to figure out.

Awesome, it worked. It was a little tight but opened. It seems the power supply is just hanging in there... I will have to have a better look at it when I have some time. Thanks guys!
