    A New Santa Fe

We decided that the Beetle was to small and went car shopping yesterday. Through my research I had narrowed the choices down to either Toyota or Hyundai. We hit the Hyundai dealer first and I drove a Santa Fe Limited and fell in love with it. It was the perfect color and equipped just right except it was AWD which I have no need for. They worked a deal but the difference was more than I wanted to pay. I asked them to work one on the same rig but FWD. We went to lunch and then back about an hour later. Instead of a FWD they reworked the AWD deal and knocked another $3,000 off. We drove it home.
It was probably the most pleasant car purchasing experiences I have ever had. Not only did I get a deal that I feel was excellent but I was made to feel like a friend rather than a customer.

Ahh, the power of a woman....

Not too long ago you were single and living in a retirement community. Now you are married, have a house, dog, new shop and a new car. When are you gettin' that new boat?

      Good for you

I think you will enjoy the Hyundai. My son bought a Sonata a couple of years ago and both the car and the dealer (Huffines in Plano, Tx) have been outstanding. He couldn't be happier with it.

Why not an American brand? Especially now...

I'm no big fan of GM, never have been, but Ford makes a good product. That Escape is a nice little ute, and it gets pretty good mileage for what it is...

The Hyundai Santa Fe is built in a state of the art facility in Alabama, Consumer Reports also rates it far above the Ford.

Not trying to be devisive but isn't the Escape actually a Mazda product rebadged as a Ford?

As a resident of Montgomery, AL, where the Santa Fe is built (live less than 10 miles from the plant), I would like to thank you for supporting my local sheriff.

No need for AWD even after all that snow last year? I bought my first AWD (actually 4WD) 20 years ago and I don't think that I'd buy a vehicle without it. BTW, my 'German' SUV was also made in Alabama I think.

We bought a Santa Fe a 2001 model. It has been a great automobile. We replaced the factory tires they lasted 102,000 miles. We now have over 106,000 miles and it keeps right on doing great. Love the AWD.

NO BOAT! Been there and done that. I have had a boat of one kind or another most of my adult life plus most of it was working in the marine industry. I love boats and being on the water but at my age I am not nimble enough anymore.
