I booked our flights for our July trip 2 months ago. Because I used a companion certificate (buy one get one) I had to book mine and one daughter's flight then book my wife's and the other daughter's separately. I split the kids up just in case Delta screwed up and somehow put us on separate flights. Today I got an email saying that my wife's flight had changed but not one for mine. I was suspicious so I called Delta. After getting transferred twice and both to the wrong place I got transferred to a rep who told me that my flight had been cancelled. However he couldn't do anything about fixing the problem. Two more transfers and more explanations later I finally got mine and my daughter's flight rebooked.

The irony of all this is the flights we are rebooked on were the ones I originally tried to get but couldn't because of various restrictions on using the awards ticket and air miles.

delta and NWA are merging.
I booked some tickets to Europe on frequent flyer miles last October for next september. These are not really "free tickets" as they hit me with about $350 in service charges. And They've already changed flights on me twice.
On the available selections I took NWA/KLM there and Air France returning because the fligth time was better Then they canceled the AF flight and moved me to an earlier one I cannot make (I am docking from a cruise ship).
So although NWA has flights later in the day I can make they won't change my flight saying it was boooked on AF and they "paid" AF and must be changed to another AF flight.
After I got the four calls worth of runaround then I argued until I was blue in the face they still would not chnage me back to NWA so I am forced to use another vacation day and $200 hotel room to catch a early flight the next day.

I sort of feel your pain. There is a direct NWA flight from RDU to Minnesota and there were some other more desireable NWA flight times that we couldn't take because my awards flight has to be on Delta the whole way. I pointed out that they own NWA and NWA is listed as an option on their website but was told not for awards travel.

Oh and I would write them a letter saying why you will not fly Delta again. Find out who the high mucky-mucks are and send it to them. After a horrible experience on United a few years ago (including a gate agent telling us that something we asked for was not her job to do) I wrote a letter to a regional director. I got a letter of apology back along with vouchers and a request to let them try again to earn my business. I sold the vouchers.

I'm done with Delta. I can't even get similar fares or connections from them any more. I've been a FF with them for as long as they have had the program, and when I complained that they were no longer competitive, they told me "tough sh!t...". So frack 'em...

I second all the poor comments on Delta. I have lived in Houston for 6 yrs and have made 4-5 flights a year on continental. This past week, I flew delta to NC. I flew delta (for the 1st time) and it was horrible. All flights were delayed and for the most part, the people I had to deal with to get on other flights were not very helpful and some were rude. I will never fly delta again. I have had only 1 flight delayed on continental in 6 yrs.

Geez, what whiners. All you guys have to complain about is poor service. Live in the Cincinnati area where Delta has the hub. Highest Delta ticket prices in America (plus the complimentary poor service)

A lot of folks in this area for years have traveled to Dayton, Columbus, Indianapolis and Louisville to fly out of and save money.

Supposed to be changing, they lowered some prices earlier this year - and cut a bunch of flights.

I've flown with Delta for 30 years. When I lived in Atlanta and for some time after moving to California, I avoided flying anyone else and they've always treated me well. I've also flown Continental a few times recently and they've been pretty good.

Flying into JFK is a nightmare on any airline and once the economy picks up it will get worse. If I didn't have family on the east side of the Hudson, I'd avoid JFK altogether.

As a Delta Million Mile Flier, and a permanent Silver medallion, I have not flown a Delts Flight in over three years. What was once a great airline has gone to he$$.

In addition to the million miles on Delta, I have about another million miles scattered among 3 or 4 other airlines. My current favorites are Southwest out of Dallas for most part good fares, freindly people and on time service. And the other is Alaska Airlines.

My last attempt at using Frequent Flier miles on Delta, they wanted more in service fees than a comparable SWA flight cost. Guess which I chose!

Delta is like an ex wife after a bitter divorce. When we first met, I moved to Atlanta, home of Delta airlines. This was in the 80's my job involved tons of travel and 95% of that was on Delta. Loved then. Man was that ever a great airline back then. Professional, prompt, courtious and they started the FF program. As long as I was flying the big D and not Eastern, well then, life in the air was sweet.

Now, 20 years later, what was a wonderful relationship has taken a bad turn for the worst. Delta is no longer the sweetheart of Atlanta flyers. She is a mean, bitter, relic of her past. Freq. flyer points are a joke. You may have a ton of them but it is next to impossible to use them. I gave up and no longer use my Delta Amex. Airtran is the airline of choice now. Heck, some here in Atlanta will even drive to Birmingham Alabama, just to fly Southwest.

And now that Delta bought Northwest looks like we'll get to enjoy that same stellar service. I'm gonna start takin' the train (even if it means picking the lock on the boxcar.)

Coincidentally, Yahoo conducted an online poll yesterday, asking people to identify their favorite domestic airline. Southwest came in at 29%, followed by Continental at 11%, and then Delta at 9%. I don't know who those 9% are, but I'm definitely not one of them...

MSP was/is a NWA/Delta captive hub to a large extent. I didn't particularly like NWA. Since the merger I've flown Delta 4 times I think, and those have been mostly uneventful but also nothing to write home about. I generally end up using FF miles for 1st class upgrades as I don't travel enough most years for status and the free bumps up front.

Southwest has finally showed up in the market this year after years of begging. They are in the better terminal and most folks seem to like them. Right now they only fly non-stop to Denver and Chicago so I still haven't flown them, but if they add a Detriot, Houston, or LA route I'll give it a shot.
