I suggest you start on a quick project. Build you a beer coaster and relax.

These are the moments when I tend to make large unauthorized purchases...25" color TV, 1-3/4hp hybrid saw, etc. Then's there's always the smaller items....nice chunk of filet mignon, the "good" beer, guy flicks (whatever that may be! ), etc.
Happiness is sort of like wetting your pants....everyone can see it, but only you can feel the warmth.

So far, I coated the laundry room floor LAST night when they left, so that's what she'll think I did today. "Taken" just went in the DVD player, and the barbecue is already in progress.

Now as far as the purchases go, I have been looking to upgrade that bandsaw...

Coating the Laundry Room floor with dirty clothes will not win you any brownie points.

The TV and TS purchases are both true stories. The year the TV was purchased, it was bought, in the house, and setup within ~ 45 minutes after they left...just in time for the playoffs. ...she was aware that the other TV was having "issues", but a new one hadn't been discussed. She was less tolerant of the TS purchase 4 years ago, until I assured her I would sell my other saw, and the total out of pocket costs would be ~ $80, which was birthday and Father's Day money. The pause on the other end of the phone when I told her seemed like an eternity! Even from 250 miles away I could feel the effects of the "look"!

And that is why I always beg for forgiveness rather than ask for permission.

What a coincidence. I just now realized I am in need of a new jigsaw to finish that fancy plant stand for SWIMBO. Looks like I need to make a tool run...

For me it would be a few hrs in the shop, followed by a shower, thick steak, baked potato, glass o cold beer, and several hours of uninterrupted x box time with a good single malt whisky
Awww forget trying to fix it!!!! Lets just drink beer

With me it's just the opposite. LOML is furnishing the new house with mostly recycled furniture and other household goods. I keep pleading with her to quite shopping and she ignores me.

However, I can buy all the tools I want without asking her first.

The only caution I can add is : I am always amazed at how fast time flows in such moments of freedom, how short that duration is.

And I am talking of the once when they visited her brother in Toronto for 18 days !!!

If you've got a lathe, that can be quite addicting, and relaxing to diddle around on... I have been practicing turning beads, and making straight round objects as well since I got mine. I think LOML would like to be able to see the shop floor again!
