    Pandora

    Check out www.pandora.com

It's an internet radio station, sort of, that creates a playlist for you based on the musical qualities of your favorite band or two.

It's a product of the music genome project... full details on the site.

Many of you have probably been enjoying this for a while, I just started on it a week ago, but I think it's awesome. Really has shown the commonalities of music I like, and the influences on and by them.

Check it out and see what you think.

I listen to pandora all the time.
I recommend making "stations" with multiple artists in them. with single artist stations and voting on the songs you'll find the station will become too narrow and start repeating itself. That is at least true if you listen to music that is less than popular.

They won't let me in because I have a Canadian I.P. address. Something about licensing outside of the US. But they were sorry about it.

MilDoc let us know about that, about a year ago. It's really a good site.

I have used Rhapsody for a couple of years, occasionally use Pandora--the Temptations channel, Roy Orbison channel, etc. It provided nice background music while I did paperwork, reviewed patient charts, prepared talks, etc.

[Rant on]The IT Nazis, um, excuse me, IT specialists at work keep tightening up the noose on what is permissable. No Facebook or internet downloads, now just last week no YouTube and no streaming media like Rhapsody or Pandora. It's pretty quiet here now--no distractions...

Of course they haven't firewalled out Ebay and Craigslist yet, but I'm sure they're thinking about it.

Seriously, in addition to blocking out certain sites that are entertaining and harmless, they also block out useful sites. For instance, I can't download medical talks from a product that the Clinic bought for me because of the firewall.

D*** you, IT agents from he**!! [Rant off]

                  Thanks

I set it up on the previous post but didn't make it a favorite and lost it. Bill
