How About 12'?

With college and NBA players being so tall, I'm thinking the game might be more of a game if the basket was upped to 12'. Whaddya all think?

Does anyone remember the ads maybe 10-12 years ago where they had some guy trying to slam dunk on a basket mounted to a backboard mechanism that moved horizontally and vertically in random patterns?

I don't remember the ad, but that would definitely make it more game. Heck even the way it is now I can make long shots 1 out of 7 tries.

Could be interesting, but I'm not sure it's fair that you have guys who have been dealing with a 10' hoop all their lives, and suddenly have to go 12'? That's a little more extreme than moving the 3-point line back a couple feet.

An interesting parallel would be going from metal bats in baseball to wood-only. There are many players who cannot handle the transition, and careers have been affected. How 'bout if pitchers suddenly had to pitch from 2nd base?

Ten feet to twelve would require too much of an adjustment, IMHO.

For my 2bits worth: I think slam dunks are fine, BUT wire the rim of the basket so that human contact would be called a foul! No more hanging!

Never happen. All the players would whine too much about not being able to show off their dunking ability. Would probably eliminate the 3 point shot as well. Good idea about wiring the rim so no human contact, that would be good to do now.
