    I Have A Date Tonight

Gonna take the wife out to dinner tonight to a real authentic Mexican restaurant - owned and operated by Mexicans. Just had the craving for Mexican, kinda like a Pizza craving.

LOML says she doesn't like Mexican food. Her exposure to Mexican food has been Taco Bell. I was thinking of wearing a sombrero and cross bandoliers. Wife says no.

      Hey Cab,

Know what "True" Mexican food contains. Makes the stuff we ate in Nam sound good.

      As always,

        Cabinetman...

I had no clue they cooked anything but Cuban stuff in Florida. Not a huge fan of cuban cuisine, but good, honest to goodness Mexican food is a treat!

I am spoiled to live in Texas where good Mexican food is as close as, well my stove (I've been taught some very good recipes), or down the street at the local Taqueria...

If you are so lucky to have a place that does maybe Caldo de Res, or maybe Barbacoa de Cabeza.... Man I am getting hungry now....

Of course the WORST Mexican food I ever ate....

        Albany Oregon...

        Mexican restaurant run by Czechs...

LOL, I always enjoy going to Vegas so I can have 'real' Mexican food and Corona. TB is about as close as I get here; the secret is lots of Hot Sauce. At least I can get lots of Indian here to satisfy my taste for spicy food.

We really like Mexican food. My daughter works with a Mexican woman who makes tomales. We buy a couple of dozen every once in a while. Good stuff!

I used to work with a Mexican guy who would bring home made tacos for the whole crew. Man! Those were really good. Didn't matter how many he brought, he never had any left over.

Hope you had a good time.

My father retired and moved to Mexico, a little town called Chapala in Jalisico. Now what I found funny was that when Mexican friends took us out for dinner it would be to either a French or Spanish restaurant. Most of what we, and I mean me, think of as Mexican food is, in Mexico, street food or fast food. Sort of like a burger and fries.

I have never had Cuban food, knew a Cuban girl once, wonder if the experience was about the same.....

Yup, I am not a big fan of menudo, tripe has never been one of my favorites. Just say I will leave it at that!

The other comment was what is necessary for a good Mexican restaurant. Way back when, I was working with a couple of real west Texas cowboys. The both came from well heeled families. When we went to dinner at a Mexican restaurants there were three requirements, cabrito, steaks marinated in pepper juice (jalapeno or hotter) and good tequila. Those were the days, I think, don't seem to ba able to remember much of it!
